Production

At NORDST, production is not a collaboration it is an integral part of who we are. 

Our production facilities are located outside Lisbon, Portugal, and are fully owned and operated by NORDST. This is where we have produced as an OEM manufacturer for leading Danish and international furniture brands for years, long before introducing our own collections. 

By keeping production in-house, we maintain full control over every step of the process — from raw material selection and technical development to finishing and quality control. 

In-house, end to end 

All NORDST products are developed, tested, and produced within our own facilities. There are no intermediaries between design and manufacturing. This allows us to produce high-quality products at an accessible price point with quick delivery, as we have our standard bespoke products in stock in our warehouse in Portugal. This structure allows us to design with real production constraints in mind and to develop products that are technically resolved, scalable, and built to last. Every design decision is grounded in hands-on knowledge of materials, machinery, and craftsmanship. Our approach is pragmatic, disciplined, and deeply rooted in manufacturing reality rather than surface-level design.

Material-driven production 

Natural stone is the primary material in our work. Working directly with stone requires experience, precision, and respect for the material. In our Portuguese facilities, we work from raw slabs to finished products, allowing us to optimise each stone slab across multiple products and formats. Our collections are designed in a range of dimensions to ensure maximum material utilisation and minimal waste, a direct result of designing alongside production rather than separately from it.

Responsibility built into the process

Sustainability at NORDST is not an added layer; it is embedded in how we produce.Water used during stone processing is reused through closed-loop systems within our facilities, significantly reducing overall consumption. By keeping production localised and in-house, we minimise unnecessary transport and ensure accountability across the entire value chain. Products are designed for long lifespans, repairability and relevance over time, rather than replacement.

From OEM experience to our own collections

Our background as an OEM for the Danish furniture industry continues to define our standards today.

The same facilities, processes, and quality requirements used for established brands are applied to every NORDST product. The difference is that we now design under our own name with the same discipline, but with a clear architectural and material focus.
